What is Stone Turkey?

Stone Turkey is an independent publishing house based in Centerville, Utah. We focus on finding new writing talent in the Rocky Mountain region, and sharing their art. At Stone Turkey, we believe that publishing can be a real headache and scares away brilliant writers. We want to host a space where talented writers can finally get to show their skills and grow communities.

Editor in Chief

"I launched Stone Turkey 2026 with the hope of helping hobby writers transition into full time writers. I thought that there must be hundreds of amazing writers who don't know where to share their work so I decided to become that launching point. I really grew to love publishing when I worked for Weber State's Metaphor during my undergrad. There was something magical about seeing a writer see their work printed in a book."

Why the Name Stone Turkey?

"The name Stone Turkey comes from a story my dad used to tell me when I was a kid. My dad was from Guanajuato, Mexico and would tell me about a local folk hero of the city. During the Mexican War for Independence, there was man nicked named El Pípila, or turkey hen, who turned the tide of a battle by strapping a rock to his back to block gunfire during an attack on the city. That was probably the first time a story truly affected me. I liked it so much that my mom told me that I would stuff my backpack with rocks as a kid because I wanted to block bullets. When I started Stone Turkey, I wanted to pay homage to my heritage and the first story that really stuck with me."
